'Rwy'n llefain Arglwydd yn y llwch

(Gweddi'r Afradlon)
'Rwy'n llefain, Arglwydd, yn y llwch,
  Mewn edifeirwch calon,
Am imi d'adael Di, fy Nuw,
  A mynd i fyw'n afradlon.

Mi grwydrais tua'r anial wlad,
  A thŷ fy Nhad adewais;
Ac ar deganau gwael y byd
  Fy na i gyd a weriais.

Ond er i'm henaid grwydr'n ffôl,
  Dof eto'n ôl hyd atat;
A rhof fy mywyd nos a dydd
  I weini'n ufudd arnat.

O! Arglwydd, gwrando ar fy nghri,
  Ac arwain fi â'th Ysbryd,
Nes cwrdd â'r teulu'n
    Nhŷ fy Nhad,
  Yng ngwlad y bythol wynfyd.

(The Prayer of the Prodigal)
I am calling, Lord, in the dust,
  In heart-felt repentance,
Since I left thee, my God,
  And went to live prodigally.

I wandered towards the desert land,
  And the house of my Father I left;
And on the base trinkets of the world
  All my goods I spent.

But although my soul wandered foolishly,
  I shall ome again back unto thee;
And give my life night and day
  To serve obediently upon thee.

O Lord, listen to my cry,
  And lead me with thy Spirit,
Until I meet with the family
    in my Father's house,
  In the land of everlasting blessedness.
tr. 2025 Richard B Gillion
